What is Career Technical Education?
Career Technical Education (CTE) provides high school students with hands-on learning and real-world application of knowledge. These programs build technical skills, industry-aligned competencies, and career-focused pathways during high school. CTE programs are certified by the Oregon Department of Education and supported through state and federal funding, with local implementation by the district.
CTE at Alliance Charter Academy
Alliance Charter Academy is launching its CTE program through the Music Department, beginning with a Music Technology pathway focused on Sound Engineering. Students will learn sound design, recording, and mixing techniques using industry-relevant tools and technology.
Program Timeline
The first CTE course will be available to high school students Fall 2026 as a full-year class. Each year, an additional level will be added (beginning, intermediate, advanced), creating a three-course sequence. Once complete, the program will meet requirements for full state approval.
Real-World Industry Connections
Alliance Charter Academy’s CTE program connects students to industry through:
- Industry Advisory Committee: Professionals such as studio engineers and musicians help guide curriculum and ensure alignment with current industry standards.
- Student Engagement: Guest speakers, hands-on experiences, and potential internships provide direct exposure to careers in music technology.

Student Benefits
Students earn academic credit while gaining practical skills for future study and careers. The program is aligned with Clackamas Community College, supporting smooth transitions into higher education in music technology and related fields.
Enrollment
Current Alliance Charter Academy high school students can enroll through the standard class registration process.
Future Plans
Alliance Charter Academy plans to expand CTE offerings to include additional areas of music technology—such as notation software and MIDI integration—and eventually extend career pathways into other academic departments.
