Dear ACA Community,
It’s been a really fun and festive week at ACA! Thank you Government Club for the Spirit Dress Up Days plan, thank you K-5 ES staff for the sweet Snowy Day movie and cocoa party, thank you PTO for the holiday craft station, thank you Ms. Holman for the Folk Dance interactive performance, thank you Mrs. Filipello for arranging the Nutcracker trip, parent Lisa Boyd for setting up fun meet-ups, and thank you ASL and Concert Choir classes for the hallway caroling. I am absolutely sure that ACA had the most holiday fun of any school, hands down!
I hope you were lucky enough to attend one, two, or all three of our phenomenal music concerts last weekend! Our music department staff of Mr. Edson, Mrs. Trobaugh, Mr. Lute, Mrs. Johnson, and Ms. McNeil clearly put their ‘All’ into the performances. The student musicians were polished and poised as they shared their talents! Thanks to the students for their commitment to practicing and the parents for supporting music education. ACA is a special place because we all share the same focus…guiding and supporting our kids!
Special appreciation to the many volunteers who stepped up to help make the performances run smoothly behind the scenes and to those who helped with the Rose, Wreath, and Bake Sales. A small crew worked for days to transform our stage from ho-hum basic into a dramatic holiday showcase. Thank you all, and remember to drop your hours into the Volunteer Time Log!
Be sure to swing by PTO’s Holiday Bazaar today (Friday) from 2pm-6pm and tomorrow from 9am-4pm. ACA will be transformed into a shopping wonderland with food, live music, and wall to hall vendors! Student vendors will be set up in the downstairs hallway. Not all students will have the ability to take credit cards, so grab some cash on your way over. Thank you Mrs. Johnson, for the tremendous number of hours you put into this fundraiser! And thank you to the entire PTO and the volunteers who are making this happen!
Looking ahead to spring, there are still a few spaces available for students to attend ACA Outdoor Science Camp. All 5th graders are eligible to attend for free, as well as all 6th graders who have never attended Outdoor School. Other 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are welcome to participate for a fee of $350. Students may use up to $225 of their allotment toward this fee, if they have not already used their vendor allotment. We also welcome parents to attend with their students if they would like to. The cost for parents is $285. Ask your ES for the sign-up forms. Thank you, Mrs. Hall, for organizing this unforgettable experience for ACA students!
Current seniors, the Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Committee sent out this Press Release with guidance on how to apply for hundreds of scholarships with one application. There are a wide variety of scholarships available for four year university, community college, and trade certifications. The application is due March 3, which will be here before we know it!
ACA’s model is naturally supportive of students' personal development as well as academic achievement. This year Oregon has implemented required standards in 5 aspects of Social Emotional Learning. This month we’re offering some accessible resources on the personal development topic of Self-Awareness. Please see the attached newsletter pertaining to your students' grade level for explanation of the Self-Awareness standards, as well as tips and resources for families.
As 2024 draws to a close, keep ACA in mind when planning your year-end, tax deductible donations. As a charter school, ACA is a 501c3 non-profit organization. What better way to support education innovation and school choice? 100% of donations will be spent on equipment and supplies that will benefit all of our students. Here is the Link To Donate and thank you for considering this gift!
Great news on the enrollment front...ACA is fully enrolled at our cap of 425 students! Our next enrollment meeting will be Wednesday, January 15 at 6:00pm in the ACA gym. Tell your homeschooling friends about our great little school! Interested families will be waitlisted and called in when we have openings, which does happen occasionally.
Gentle Rule Reminder: Please pick up students within 15 minutes of their final class of the day. No matter what grade level a student is, they must be enrolled in a class, with a responsible adult, or picked up from school.
Remember to check the calendar on our website often, AllianceCharterAcademy.org and don’t forget to log your Volunteer hours here Volunteer Time Log
Thank you for being part of the ACA family. I wish you exactly the kind of Holiday season that you are hoping for!
Go Eagles,
